Sophia & the Tight Groove

Sophia Tzoka, of Greek origin, grew up in the USA, in the state of New Jersey, in a family with a long musical tradition.
Even as a little girl, she had the desire to become a singer. Inspired and influenced by Ella Fitzgerald's epochal live album "Sunshine Of Your Love", she turned to jazz and blues music.
Her vocal potential was soon discovered in the bars and clubs of New Jersey and she decided to pursue professional singing training.

After various studio projects and guest appearances in various bands, the singer, who now lives in Switzerland, met the musicians of “The Tight Groove”, who after the death of their frontman “Mr. Blue” were looking for a new voice.

Very early contact with music. Trumpet and piano lessons at the age of 7.
At the age of 14 he discovered his love for the guitar. Later training on classical and jazz guitar with Peter Brugger and Ueli Gasser. Lessons with Heinz Affolter at the Lucerne Jazz School.

Countless music productions with Mr.Blue Rivers and concerts with various rock, jazz, soul and blues formations. A permanent member of Mr.Blue & the Tight Groove since the early 90s.

Jam’s with the Mike Wheeler Band, among others; JJ Milteau; Joe Louis Walker and Marquise Knoxs are unforgettable.

In addition to Sophia & the Tight Groove, he also moves beyond the blues and enjoys playing the varied styles of a Hene Wirz Band or setting bluesy impulses with the unmistakable sound of the Steppin Stompers Dixieland Band.

Today, among others, studio projects and concerts with “Ladyva”, Neil Taylor and Gary Nutfall (Robbie Williams), Henning Wehland (Söhne Mannheims), Justina Lee Brown etc., various jams (including Climax Chicago)
